Description:
"What does it mean to be alienated from nature? It's a familiar claim in contemporary environmental discussions that today we are so alienated, but it isn't always clear what such a claim actually comes to. The terms 'nature' and 'alienation' are both famously difficult, first of all; and second, as I'll try to show, under certain standard interpretations of those terms nature is exactly the sort of thing from which one cannot be alienated" (Vogel 187).
